Aina Abdul will represent Malaysia at Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026, following a standout run at the 40th Anugerah Juara Lagu with her song Kamu. The performance earned her the Best Performance Award at AJL40 along with the Shopee Voted Artist Icon Award, a prize decided entirely through fan voting.
What set the performance apart was its staging. Aina used visuals of an erupting volcano to symbolise her mounting emotions, building the number around dramatic props and powerful vocal delivery that carried the audience through anger, disappointment and loss expressed through movement, facial expression and voice alike.
That same instinct for striking visual storytelling is now heading to an international stage. Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026, organized by the European Broadcasting Union, airs Saturday, November 14 at 9pm on TV3 and Tonton, a two hour live music event bringing together talented singers from across the continent.
Eurovision itself has run annually since 1956, evolving from a European competition into a genuinely global cultural phenomenon, and Aina's reputation for distinctive performances, creative composition, fashion and visual staging is expected to give Malaysia a real edge on that stage. If Kamu's volcano themed staging is any indication, she is not planning to hold back for the occasion.
