The Critics Choice Association has named its honorees for the 6th annual Celebración of Cinema and Television, set for October 2 in Beverly Hills, and the list includes three names with a combined several decades in the industry: John Leguizamo, Judy Reyes, and Oscar Núñez.
A career achievement award four decades in the making
Leguizamo will receive the Career Achievement Award, recognition for more than forty years spent moving between film, television, comedy, and theater. The Emmy winner and four time Tony nominee has recently drawn attention for his role in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, a performance that has been part of the wider awards conversation this year.
A trailblazer and a vanguard, honored the same night
Judy Reyes will accept the Trailblazer Award for a body of work spanning film, television, and theater, including her current role on ABC's High Potential. Oscar Núñez, who originated Oscar Martinez on NBC's The Office, will receive the Vanguard Award tied to his continuing work on Peacock's The Paper, the mockumentary series that reprises his character and has already been renewed for a second season.
Organizers have framed the ceremony as a celebration built specifically around Latino and Hispanic storytelling, with event co-chair Clayton Davis noting that the honorees create from a place of joy and defiance during a period that has been difficult for their communities. The event will be co-hosted by Davis and Critics Choice Association member Amanda Salas.
