Denise Richards did not need to say much to get fans talking. A new pool photoshoot showing the 55 year old with wet, slicked back hair and a sheer black lace cover-up was enough on its own to send followers straight back to 1998, and to the film that first made her a household name.
A callback that landed exactly as intended
The images echoed the pool scenes from Wild Things, the thriller where Richards played wealthy high school student Kelly Van Ryan in a role that became one of the most talked about parts of her early career. When a fan asked outright whether the shoot was a reenactment of that scene, Richards kept her answer short and coy, simply replying maybe. Followers were quick to fill in the rest, with comments dubbing the shoot Wild Things 2.0 and pointing out the unmistakable vibe.
Support from familiar faces
Richards' hair and makeup artist, Pamela Brogardi, shared behind the scenes images from the shoot, and the post drew support from a number of Real Housewives alums, including Kathy Hilton and Camille Grammer. The overlap in audiences made sense given how much crossover exists between the reality TV world and Richards' own long running career.
Wild Things remains the project most associated with Richards' breakout period, eventually leading to her role as a Bond girl in 1999's The World Is Not Enough. Nearly three decades later, a single pool photoshoot was enough to prove the association has not faded, and that she is more than happy to lean into it on her own terms.
