Datuk Syafinaz Selamat has been reappointed Distinguished Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at Sultan Idris Education University, starting a second term that runs through July 31, 2028. The reappointment was announced on August 12.
The role sits alongside her position as Chairman of the ASWARA Board of Directors, and the university's announcement framed the decision as recognition of Syafinaz's extensive experience and contributions to the fields of music and the performing arts, built over a career as a classical singer with significant influence across Malaysia's music and performing arts sectors.
In response to the reappointment, Syafinaz kept her focus on what comes next rather than the honor itself, saying she would continue to contribute to academic excellence, research, innovation and human capital development through ongoing collaboration.
A second term rather than a first suggests the university sees the collaboration as still unfinished business, and with two more years now confirmed, Syafinaz's academic role continues to run in parallel with the performing career and institutional leadership that built her reputation in the first place.
