Ranbir Kapoor's wrist did almost as much talking as the rest of his outfit at a recent Ramayana-themed event, where a striking blue timepiece from Swiss watchmaker Jacob & Co drew nearly as much attention as the occasion itself. The watch, reported to be valued at roughly Rs 35.88 lakh, turned out to be more than an expensive accessory. Its dial was built as a direct tribute to Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru.
The design makes that intention hard to miss. The skeletonized blue face is laid out around the Ik Onkar symbol, the foundational Sikh representation of one divine, alongside a khanda emblem and a lion motif, a nod to the title Singh itself, which translates to lion and has long symbolized courage and strength within Sikh tradition. Rather than treating the religious imagery as decoration, the watch appears built to put those symbols at the center of the dial rather than tucked into a corner.
A statement piece with a specific meaning
Custom or limited pieces like this one tend to function less like everyday accessories and more like wearable commissions, built around a story the owner wants to tell rather than off a standard catalog. For a watch that pairs elite Swiss watchmaking with explicitly devotional iconography, the choice reads as a deliberate one, aligning a luxury flex with a personal or cultural tribute rather than keeping the two separate.
