Hannah Simone, the Canadian actress known for playing Cece Parekh on New Girl and for her years as a MuchMusic VJ, got an unexpected offer last summer from someone she already trusted behind a camera. Jay Chandrasekhar, who had directed episodes of New Girl, texted her proposing she play his sister in Super Troopers 3.

Simone did not hide how she reacted. She said she was grateful the offer came by text rather than a video call, because she freaked right out the moment she read it. Working with Chandrasekhar again was enough on its own to get her excited about the project before she had even seen a script.

In the film, now in theaters as of August 2026, Simone plays Sarita, sister to Chandrasekhar's character Thorny, in a plot built around Sarita's engagement and wedding to Kevin Heffernan's character Farva. Getting the wedding right meant real preparation. Simone and Heffernan spent an entire weekend in dance rehearsal for their wedding dance scene, working from scratch since neither of them had a background in Indian dance.

She also got to work opposite veteran actors Sakina Jaffrey and Iqbal Theba, who play her parents in the film, rounding out a cast built around the kind of found family energy the Super Troopers franchise has leaned on since its first film. Simone has already said she is hoping for a fourth movie, treating this one less like a one off favor to a friend and more like the start of a longer run.
